What to do with all the candy?

Now that Halloween is over many parents are left with a big struggle...what to do with all the candy. Aly got 3/4 of a bucket of candy between trick or treating at KK's school and her school. KK got about 1/2 a bucket. Now you know what our daily struggle is don't you? They both want candy all the time!!!!
So we weren't quite sure what the best way to handle it was. Do we let them have 2-3 pieces of candy a day till it's gone? Do we let them have a sit down gorge and eat as much as they can and get rid of the rest? We both struggled to the answer for this question.
While I was out to dinner with a friend on Saturday night she suggested having Aly go through her bucket and pick out candy she wants to use for the gingerbread house we will make at Christmas. GENIUS! So of course the next morning I told Aly of the brilliant plan. She was totally on board too and gave up 1/2 of her candy to use for the gingerbread house. So now we just have a little bit of candy left to struggle over. Probably just a weeks worth. I feel much better....
What do you do with your children's Halloween candy? Have any other great ideas to share?

We let Ashley chose 10 pieces of her favorite candy. Then she leaves the rest out for the "Candy Queen." The candy queen comes and takes her candy and leaves her a treat. She got a little $10 princess toy thang.

I saw in the paper some dentist in town is willing to donate (I'm not sure what cause) money towards something for every few pieces of candy that you turn in. I will have to find that article unless someone threw it away!

What a great idea! I am putting that in the back of my mind for when my kids are trick or treating age!

Give it to Daddy -- That's what they are for, to help eat all the leftover candy!
