I made this shirt for Alyssa for her birthday because I couldn't find one on the internet I liked.
Alyssa doesn't like cake but she likes chocolate chip cookie cupcakes.  So we made the cookie cupcakes up the night before and then they all decorated them at the party.

When dinner was over I took all the girls to the movies to see Tomorrowland.  It was a good movie.  The ending could have been a little better thought out but all in all it was entertaining!
They all slept on the couch.
I had them all practice making pancakes in the morning since they will be expected to make them on the 3 day science field trip coming up this week.

Lol..they were a little crispy on the outside but the girls enjoyed them.
Next up it was time for a water balloon fight!!!

After the water balloon fight we had to practice setting up the tents.  The girls will be expected to put up their own tent on the beach science trip.

3 of us moms will be staying in the big 6 person tent.  Alyssa and two of her friends will be staying in the 4 person tent.

Go Carts BABY!

Woohoo!!!  Alysssa, Kayla, and I got to try out go carts at a birthday party for Kayla's friend Alex.  Alyssa didn't want to drive alone and Kayla wasn't tall enough.  Kayla's rode with Alex's mom.  Kayla also got to play Laser Tag for the first time and really enjoyed it.  We all got to mini golf as well.

Look at our two beautiful outdoor cats.  It took almost a whole year for Fat Albert to come to our front porch..LOL..well her name is really Lady.  Look at her, she is huge!!  So happy she is finally hanging out on the front porch where she can stay dry and safe.  She tolerates our dog Shasta now and in turn Shasta protects her.  Who knows..maybe in another year she will finally sleep with Shasta on her bed.

Alyssa's 6th grade report

Alyssa wrote a huge report on Pilot Whales.  Hers ended up being 17 pages long.  She got an A!  I don't ever remember writing a report that long until High School.

Coloma 4th grade trip

Kayla had a 3 day sleep away camp for her 4th grade class at Coloma.  She had major reservations all year about going because of the over night portion.  The night before the trip she wanted to cancel  I asked her teacher if she could try camp for the day and if she still wanted to come home, could I come and pick her up?  She said that would work so Kayla agreed to go.

Here is the morning of the trip before the class left.  Poor Kayla was sad and already nervous to go.

Once she got there she had a good time gold panning.
The camp fire was great too!
Here she is celebrating because she spent the night!
Another Mom is giving her a congratulations hug!!

The truth is, she actually did want to go home at night.  In fact, she asked her teacher twice.  Her teacher told her to lay in bed and give it a try.  When the teacher came back to check on her, Kayla said her heart was racing and she still wanted to go home but her teacher said no, your not going home, you will stay all 3 days, going home is not an option.  You will not tell your parents that I made you stay, you will tell them that you chose to stay on your own.  Do not tell them I told you that you can't go home.

Personally I was not very happy to hear that happened.  In my opinion, it broke Kayla's trust.  I assured her had I gotten a phone call I would have gotten her..especially considering it is only a half an hour from our house. What right does a teacher have to make that decision and on top of it to tell a child not to tell her parents the truth?

Camping at home in our trailer

The girls wanted to go camping in the trailer.  We decided to just sleep in the trailer on our own property..I mean, why not...we have electrical hookups and septic hookups right there!
 We played Uno.

Alyssa was super happy to wear my pajamas!

6th grade dance

Alyssa went to her first school dance.  It was put on by the guitar club.  I got to see the end of it and was mighty impressed.  They had a live band and everything..which consisted of the kids and the guitar teacher.  They did a great job!
