Shasta became ill Sunday. She was having fluid leaking and eventually blood. We brought her in on Monday to find out she had a uterine infection and a small breast tumor. Uterine infections in middle age dogs are serious and require immediate surgery. The medical term used is Pyometra. She had surgery last night around 9 p.m. and had a full hysterectomy and the breast tumor removed. They said she did very well and was alert and looking around soon after. This morning she took a walk and was doing well. She currently is not interested in eating so we will need to keep an eye on her. We pick her up today after the girls get home from school.
