We were so happy the weather was nice this year for Trick or Treating. Kayla made plans to go off with her friend Quinn and go Trick or Treating.
Summer and Alyssa went to the same loop we like to go to up here every year. Alyssa's friend Tommy joined us.
Quinn's Mom sent me this picture of them having fun on the Trick or Treating.

Toothless Dragon Costume I sewed for Kayla
Here is the Toothless Dragon costume I made for Kayla. I couldn't find one to buy in her size so I kind of had no choice but to make up my own patter and figure it out myself.
I drew all the spikes and cut out plastic pieces from a milk jug to sew in each of the pieces to help them stand up. Each piece had to be hand sewn on the black hooded sweatshirt to insure they were placed correctly and would stand up on their own.
Kayla loves it! The best part because I made the tail detachable and we bought detachable wings is she will be able to wear the sweatshirt to school everyday!

Trick or Treating in the rain
This year the forecast was 100% chance of rain. I spent all week hoping it would change or that miraculously the window period from 6-8 would clear up for Trick or Treaters. When it was obvious that wouldn't happen I starting brainstorming ideas to sway my kids to stay home out of the rain. LOL, none of them worked and we all went Trick or Treating in the rain and actually, it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be!!! I dressed Summer up in a very nice warm Teddy Bear Costume. Alyssa had three layers of clothing with her warrior costume. Kayla was the only one freezing because she wouldn't listen to my advice of putting a sweatshirt on underneath.
Our Trick or Treating group!
Here is the candy I bought to try and bribe my kids to stay home...LOL. We ended up needing it anyway because the place we normally go only had half the houses participating this year and the kids came home with only a little bit of candy. This added nicely to their bucket and split 5 ways it really made for the perfect amount!!!

This is Summer's Jack O Lantern
Here is Alyssa carving her own pumpkin all by herself. She made the design, drew it, and is carving it all on her own.
Here is Kayla doing her pumpkin all by herself.
Summer proudly displays the design she and Daddy came up with. He did the pumpkin for Summer.

Pumpkin carving
It seems like Hubby and I never make the pumpkin carving before Halloween. It doesn't really matter anyway since we don't get any trick or treaters. I don't really like carving pumpkins myself because I hate touching the gooky goo inside the pumpkin and I find it a bit difficult to use the knife to do the carving.
So lucky me when hubby decided to step up to the plate and do it. Not only did he volunteer himself to do the whole project, he decided to do it with the girls while I had a mom's night out! I was thrilled to miss the gooky mess and I bet he had a great time bonding with the girls over pumpkin carving. He said he taught aly to practice drawing her face on paper and then draw it on the pumpkin before carving. He said she came up with the idea to make the top triangular pieces. All in all they had a great time and they did a great job!

Aly's Harvest Festival
Aly's Harvest Festival started at 6. So after running from school, to KK's school for Trick or Treating, to home to finish the decorating of 24 cupcakes, we made it just in time for the Harvest Festival. Man it had already been a long day! Here are the cupcakes I made, I think they turned out really cute. They are brownie cupcakes, with chocolate frosting, Oreo cookie crumbs, and gummy worms.

Since we knew it would be cold and raining we convinced the girls to wear warmer costumes for the Harvest Festival. KK chose Jo Jo's Circus and Aly chose her Frog costume. They were both very warm and comfy and both liked their costumes.

I really liked how the festival was set up and I hope we get to do it every year. It was a nice, safe activity for everyone to enjoy. They got to see many of their friends too. I imagine in a few years we won't be able to walk around with them anymore.....sad....
