More baby chicks

 Lol..we just had to get more baby chicks!!!  Alyssa and I saw these guys on July 2nd at the pet store.  They were white leghorns and black jersey giants.  We picked out two white leghorns because they are known to be the best egg layers and on black giant jersey because I just love that breed and wanted one.

Growing chicks

 Here are some pictures of the 6 baby chicks that are growing.  Here they are about 9-10 weeks old.  They are so beautiful.

 They are totally loving the water melon.

Bigger chicken coop

 Since we lost two chickens to coyotes in mid may we had to make a new larger chicken coop.  Ed made the new coop 10  feet by 30 feet long.  We also moved the 6 young chicks out to the coop with the 3 remaining hens.  Now we have 9 chickens altogether.  Can't wait until they are all laying eggs!

Alyssa's sleepover party

 

 Alyssa chose to have 3 girls over.  We went to Round Table Pizza for dinner and then went to the movies to see Alice Through the Looking Glass.

 Shockingly there was barely anybody in the theater.  Friday night at 7 on the second night the movie was playing..nice for us!

The next morning the girls chose to have a water fight.

Oddly enough the chickens didn't mind...

The Chicken Whisperer

 Summer is enjoying being with the chickens and trying to hand feed them.

I love the Silver Pheonix she is holding..super beautiful chicken.

Larger Baby Chicken Pen

 The baby chicks were to big for the red plastic bin.  We borrowed a wire cage from a friend.  Now they have room to run around and move.

Chickens free range at the house

 The chickens have decided they like the bugs near the house.  Of course this means hanging out with the dogs and cat...lol

Chickens get to free range

 Finally we are able to let the chickens out to free range.  You are supposed to leave them in their new coop for a week to acclimate before letting them out so they know where to return to.  They are so happy to be out to eat bugs and grass!!

They were really brave for their first day and wondered down the hill..
