Today the fire continued to spread north and north east. Good news for us but not such good news for Swansboro and the ice house area. The fire grew to 28,000 acres burned. Today it was reported on the scanner that one home has been lost at the east end of the fire. So sad for that family.
We will continue to hope the winds are favorable for us and do not switch to south and south west. We actually have fire activity within 3 miles of our home from the north and the east. Please wind cooperate and stay north and north east.
Schools are set to re-open tomorrow. We will asses in the morning if we are comfortable sending them back to school. The fire is still within 2 miles of Kayla's school and if it did hop the freeway it could also reach Alyssa's school. It makes things more difficult when you have to race to two different schools to pick up kids in a possible emergency evacuation.
