KK is Reading!!!

I am so thrilled! KK has recently began reading. She has known her alphabet both letters and sounds for over a year now. We had began teaching her to sound out three letter words but she wasn't always interested in learning and developmentally wasn't ready. She sure is ready now. She is taking off quickly too! She loves the DVD Meet the Sight Words and has learned many sight words from that movie. She also watches Leap Frog Letters and Sounds as well as Leap Frog Word Factory. It has been so much fun for me to see how she learns. She is learning quite differently then Aly. Aly really used context clues--looking at the pictures to help with the words--however KK uses her memory more. She memorizes words quickly. We are actually having to teach her how to use context clues. She is good at sounding out words but after she has sounded the same word out a few times, she actually memorizes it! She loves reading now and begs us to listen to her. She was thrilled to be video taped. I taped her reading four different books from the Reader Rabbit Series.

This one is funny because while she is reading the phone is ringing so you end up hearing the phone in the background. It sure didn't bother her though!
