Parks in Kauai

No vacation is complete without visiting the local parks right?  Lol...the parks were well loved by the children.  This first park where the structures were made out of wood was Lydgate Park.  We actually went there to go snorkeling on the beach that was specially designed for children with a rock enclosure to keep the waves from breaking on the shore and the surf from dragging kids out to sea.  Unfortunately last March due to weeks of non-stop rain the area flooded and debris filled the enclosures.  You can't see anything in the water now except muck!

This park was located a short walk from our condo and on our walk to see the turtles!

Limahuli Garden

Ed really wanted to check out one of the gardens on Kauai so he chose this one on the North Shore.  The other two gardens he was interested in were not self guided tours and he wanted to have the flexibility of viewing things at his own pace!
The girls loved having Daddy take their pictures all over the gardens!
Alyssa was even giving Daddy ideas!
Summer and I jumped in on some pictures too!  That girls is heavy to carry around at 30 pounds now!

Summer was having fun playing with Alyssa!
They loved the roots on this tree!

Do you see that double peak in the background?  When we were on our boat tour we got to see the other side of it and we took some pictures!  Try and see if you notice it!
I see meditation in her future!

A beautiful view of the coast too!

Waimea Canyon

After going to the Kalalau Valley Overlook we went to Waimea Canyon which is only about a short ten minute drive away.  It was very windy!  I was happy that it had stroller access!  There was a gentlemen that offered to take our picture too so that was great!
Many people like to hike in this canyon.

Our kids prefer to dig in the dirt!  They weren't impressed by the scenery!  LOL

Kalalau Valley Overlook

We took a trip up to the Kalalau Valley Overlook!  This was on Ed's top list of things to see!  We got lucky too that the weather cooperated and we were able to see all the way to the coast!  By the time we left, clouds rolled in and you couldn't see the coast anymore.

The view here was so beautiful!  It really made us want to take a boat or helicopter ride!
Once we returned we looked into helicopter rides and boat tours.  The helicopter ride was out of our price range.  We were able to find one boat tour that would allow us to bring the baby!

Kauai Blow hole pic

One of the tourist attractions on Kauai was a lava formed blow hole.  It was really pretty.  The nice part was their was plenty of parking and stroller access!  They had vendors there selling local goods and the girls enjoyed doing a little shopping!

Turtle Watching

One of Daddy's favorite things to do was take a walk and go watch the sea turtles feed and ride the waves.  I think he may have taken half of his pictures here!
Do you see the turtle riding the wave?
Here is one taking a breath of air!
Here is Crush surfing the wave!  The girls started naming the turtles each day!

Kauai and Swimming

Our condo resort had an amazing pool that everyone in the family loved!
The water slide was our favorite part!
The baby loved floating around in the tube!  It helped us have fun in the pool too!

I got sunburned and had to buy a rash guard just so I could go to the pool!  The girls are lucky they have their Daddy's skin.  They never had any trouble!

Our first night in kauai

Our trip to Kauai Day 1

We left for a wonderful 12 day vacation!  We felt so fortunate that hubby's work gave him this trip!  We only had to pay to bring the kids along!  The kids were super excited for their first plane ride!  A 5 hour and 20 minute plane ride that they all handled very well!

Due to the time change and early plane departure we arrived in Kauai at 9:45 in the morning.  Our condo wouldn't let us check in until 3!  We were able to walk the grounds, go to their beach, and their awesome swimming pool!

We all got flower leis at the airport!  The girls loved them!
