Picture Day

Picture Day at school.  Kayla had the first day.  She chose her complete outfit, how she wanted her hair, and her jewelry which happened to be mine..Lol.
She has always loved the Katniss braid.

Alyssa's picture day was the next day.  In typical tween fashion she told  me the day before her school pictures that she had nothing to wear.  So I ran out and shopped for 3 hours and brought this shirt home as she had instructed me she wanted the casual look and wanted it to be purple and blue.  I was surprised she liked something I picked out!
She looks so grown up!!

On Summer's picture day I totally forget to snap a picture of her before she went to school.  You see, the day before she had such a huge fit over me helping pick out her clothes it was so hard to get her to school on time.  So on picture day, I was so focused just getting her ready, and thrilled we didn't have the power struggle that we experienced the day before, that I totally forgot to snap a picture.  I will post it once we get it back!

Praying Mantis fight to kill huge Bumble Bee

Praying Mantis

The sad reality of Praying Mantis is they do in fact kill Monarch Butterflies.  It broke my heart to look out my window and see this.  When I took the picture I didn't even notice their was another female next to her eating a bee.
We walked over to our waterfall and found this female laying her egg sack.  This was the first time we have ever witnessed this event with our own eyes!

We walked around the house and found some other egg sacks already layed.  This was under the eves of our roof.

S.F. Zoo

After freezing at the beach we headed to the San Francisco Zoo hoping it would be a bit warmer.  Um, no, it was still freezing!!!  I was able to find a sweatshirt for Summer.  The only sweatshirts I could find for the girls and I were Giants themed and we are not baseball fans and there was no way I was going to spend $40 a piece for sweatshirts we would never wear again!  We braved the cold.  It did warm up enough after the first hour being there that we could tolerate it.

The Beach Trip

We decided last minute to take a weekend getaway trip.  We stayed at the kids favorite hotel in San Rafael.  Saturday morning we set off to go enjoy some time at the beach.

Only one problem, when I checked the weather two day before we left it said it would be 79 degrees.  So, I didn't pack any sweatshirts!!  When we got to the beach we were all FREEZING!!!

We stayed in the sand dunes because they protected us from the chilly wind.  It was still cold but we could brave it out for a bit.  When we had enough, we packed up and decided to head to the San Francisco Zoo.

Lesson learned..no matter what, always have back up sweatshirts!!!

My brilliant plan of using the snow discs didn't turn out to be so brilliant.  They were actually very slow and dragged on the front.  In fact, when I tried it I even broke one..oops!

Kayla in her typical friendly, outgoing fashion decided to join some teens in burying their friend.

Summer wanted to be buried too so Alyssa took care of her!

Summer Shasta Cuddles

Summer enjoyed some cuddles from Shasta today.

When she was finished she made Shasta lay still so she could draw a picture of her.

Ear ring change date

Today was the day the girls were super excited for!!  The day they get to change their ear rings.  Alyssa chose dolphins to change to and Kayla chose little Husky puppies.
