Alyssa makes a sea otter Valentine's box
Alyssa misses second grade, back when they made their own Valentine's day boxes. She decided to make this otter box at home. She is bummed though because as a big, 6th grade girl, they no longer celebrate Valentine's day at school.

Latest grocery bag
I found this fabric at a thrift store and was super happy. Just in time for Valentine's Day too!! I had enough fabric to make 3 bags. One for me, one will be a surprise for a college friend, and one Alyssa is making for her teacher. She has her first paid job making 5 grocery bags. Her teacher offered her $20 a bag but I told her that I thought $15 was more fair. I also told her I was going to take $20 for the cost of fabric because most of the time it costs $5 or $6 per bag in material cost. She will end up making $55 for her first sewing job!!!

Kayla's bed
We sold Kayla's loft bunk bed and bought this full size bed as a replacement. She chose the new bedding. We still need to buy blue curtains. Her dwarf hamsters actually chewed a hole in one of these curtains so when they are replaced we need to make sure the cages are no where near the curtains...LOL

Bow practice
Our friends Israel and Rachael brought over their compound bows and taught us all how to shoot them. Kayla was so excited to try!!! Alyssa decided to just watch this time but said she might try next time. Summer wanted to try but she is going to have to stick to the Nerf bow and arrow for awhile...sorry little one!
Ashley showing us how it is done from the 20 yard line.
Joey making a great shot!
Ed giving it a try.
Aeriel shooting from the 30 yard line, she later shot from the 40 yard line as well. My eyes are too bad for such a distance..Lol.
Woohoo, I got to try it too!!! It was super fun! I think we found ourselves a new family hobby!!!
Snowflake looked so beautiful today I just had to take a picture!!!

Alyssa's drawings
Alyssa drew all these a few days ago. We are so impressed with her talent. Great job Alyssa. Maybe I can write a book someday and you can be the illustrator.

Pokemon plush
Ug, as if we didn't have enough stuffed animals in the house! All 3 girls are currently on a mission to collect pokemon stuffed animals. They are shopping amazon, ebay, and having me drive around to the local thrift stores in hopes of finding one. They were lucky enough to find bulbasaur for .25 at our local thrift store. He needed a bath right away but cleaned up nicely. This is a picture of all 3 girls possessions combined. I think they are getting ready for a pokemon battle...Lol.

Cleaning the grout
Lol...the first two pictures are the after pics of cleaning the floor. The bottom two are the before. I don't see any difference. I have never been a fan of the white tile in my kitchen but even less of a fan of the dirty grout. So please, if you have some suggestions on getting my grout clean I would love to hear it!!! I am going to stop using a swifter mop that just seams to push the dirt around and right into the grout. Today for the first time I cleaned the floors with a Hoover floormate powerscrub. It kind of reminds you of a carpet cleaner but made for tile floors. I think this will be good going forward as no dirty water will be pushed into the grout since it sucks the water up. However, I have got to figure out a way to get that grout clean...it looks horrible!!!
Bangs
We are trying to grow Summer's bangs back out since she hacked them a couple of months ago. She really isn't a fan of the clips or barrettes though. I hope she ends up having the patience for it. So much easier without bangs.

Week two basketball games
Alyssa played almost the whole game today. Last week she played a forward and this week she played a guard. No worries Alyssa, you won't be tall enough to play a center and our team has two amazing point guards already. You shouldn't have to learn any more positions.
It was fun to see how much they are already improving!!!!
Kayla is an aggressive machine. We need to teach her what is a fowl, this game she got 3. She doesn't like it when the other team is aggressive to her so we are having to teach her how to react. The game was close in the end. They lost 4-6. It was great defense on both sides.
Clearly the orange team had been taught how to correctly box the other player out!

Summer picture
Summer drew this picture for me while I was gone at bunco. She taped it on her bedroom door and showed it to me when I got home. She said it is a picture of her crying because she missed her mommy. See the eyes? The lines are tears.

Lego tower
Summer wanted me to take a picture to show her very tall tower house she build for her pokemon. She was very proud of herself and she did the whole thing all on her own.

Kayla's first basketball game
Kayla had her first week playing basketball. They had their first practice Friday night and their first game today. Kayla is having fun and quite competitive. She got a bit upset that the other team was leading 12-0 at one point.
Kayla was quite an aggressive player and defense will be her strong suite. She even got a foul..no fear there of being aggressive.
We are enjoying watching the girls play basketball. It will be a fun season watching them learn and grow as players.

Alyssa's first basketball game
Alyssa started playing rec basketball this week. They had their first practice on Tuesday. They are only allowed one hour practice a week and a game every Saturday. They did very well the first half of the game and were mostly tied. Then after half time both teams were allowed to do a full court press. Our girls had no idea how to work around that. They tried hard but lost. It is a great time for learning and I am looking forward to watching them all learn and grow. Alyssa said she liked defense best. She had a great assist in the game!
This is how Kayla and Summer watch the game...laying down in between the bleachers...LOL.

Summer wanted pics
When Summer was playing outside today she told me she wanted me to take pictures of her on the log. She had lots of fun posing.
I liked this one the best.
